Born on 13 October 1988, Henry Bonello made his Premier League debut for Sliema Wanderers in season 2006/07. In season 2009/10, Henry joined Vittoriosa Stars in Division 1 on a one-year loan. During the following season Bonello returned with Sliema Wanderers and took the number 1 shirt at the club.
During the 2014 summer transfer market window, Henry Bonello joined Hibernians on loan. He formed part of the squad that won the BOV Premier League in 2014-2015.
Bonello also forms part of the national team squad, he made his senior international debut for Malta on 29 February 2012.
Henry Bonello joined Valletta FC on loan during July 2015. 

During January 2016, Valletta F.C. reached and agreement with Sliema Wanderers over the permanent move of Henry Bonello, the international goalkeeper  signed a five year deal.

During season 2016, Henry started his second season with Valletta and retained a regular place in the first few matches but mid-way through the first-round of the BOV Premier 
he lost his place to Dziugas Barktus.
The Stripes were looking for a Maltese goalkeeper and the choice fell on the experienced Henry Bonello left Valletta F.C. and joined Birkirkara on 6 January 2017.
During June 2017, an agreement was reached between Valletta F.C. and Birkirkara F.C. for the permanent move of Henry Bonello to re-join the Citizens.
