Valletta sign five foreign players Published on: 01-02-2014



Yesterday evening, Valletta signed five foreign players before the end of the transfer window. These transfers were made possible thanks to the backing of chief sponsors Insignia and Merab Jordania, a wealthy Georgian businessman.

The five foreigners consists of goalkeeper Nukri Revishvili, midfielders Irakli Maisuradze and Vladimir Rassulov and strikers Alan da Silva Souza and Abayomi Owonikoko Seun.

Goalkeeper Revishvili, 26, has been capped 18 times by Georgia while midfielder Maisuradze, 25, has made three appearances for his country, both player were on the books of FC Dila Gori.

21 year old midfielder Vladimir Rassulov was on the books of FC Speranta Crihana Veche. Nigeria-born striker Abayomi Owonikoro Seun was on loan with FC Volyn Lutsk, Seun holds a Georgian passport while 26 year old Alan da Silva Souza was on loan with Football Sports Club Bukovyna Chernivtsi a club based in Chernivtsi, Ukraine.

The signing of Revishvili and Maisu-radze, who were on the books of FC Dila Gori, follows the appointment of Andre Paus and Ted van Leeuwen as head coach and technical director of Valletta respectively earlier this week.

Andre Paus and Ted Van Leeuwen, are currently working alongside coach Mark Miller and assistant coach Gilbert Agius, the newly signed foreign players will also boost the Citizens prospects of winning the title. The Lily Whites are currently six points behind rivals Birkirkara.

All newly signed players will be available for next Sundays top-of-the-table clash with leaders Birkirkara.
