Valletta FC and the Manchester United Legends faced each other in an exhibition match at the Centenary Stadium yesterday. The game formed part of the Valletta 2018 celebrations and also marked the 60th anniversary of the Manchester United Supporters Club Malta. Played in front of a bumper crowd, the match brought together several former players from both clubs with United’s selection including three members of the 1999 treble winning team, namely goalkeeper Raymond van Der Gouw and defensive duo Wes Brown and Ronnie Johnsen among others. On the other hand,



Valletta fielded several stars of the past, namely Gilbert Agius, Joe Zarb, Nicky Saliba, Joe Camilleri, Ivan Zammit and Vince ‘Maxi’ Magro. In the end, it was Valletta who prevailed by the odd goal in three. All the proceeds of the match went in aid of the Ursuline Sisters’ Creche in Gwardamangia.
