Valletta F.C. reached an agreement with Birkirkara F.C. over a swap deal involving Malta international players Rowen Muscat and goalkeeper Henry Bonello. Both players are expected to sign for their new clubs on Friday.
 
A product of Birkirkara F.C. Nursery, Rowen Muscat made his Premier League debut for the Stripes in season 2009/10. During season 2009/10 Rowen also won the BOV Premier League with the Stripes. Rowen scored his first ever goal in the BOV Premier League on the 6 November 2011. 
 
In summer 2014, Rowen was transferred to Hungarian top division side Dunaujvaros PASE but his overseas adventure was cut short as he was released due to the club’s financial problems. Rowen returned with the Stripes during January 2016, he joined Pavia in Italy on a six-month spell.
 
With Birkirkara, Rowen Muscat won two Premier League championships, an FA Trophy and a Super Cup.
Henry Bonello made his Premier League debut for Sliema Wanderers in season 2006/07. In season 2009/10, Henry joined Vittoriosa Stars in Division 1 on a one-year loan. During the following season Bonello returned with Sliema Wanderers and took the number 1 shirt at the club.
 
During the 2014 summer transfer market window, Henry Bonello joined Hibernians on loan. He formed part of the squad that won the BOV Premier League in 2014-2015.
 
The following season, Henry moved to Valletta on loan but during the end of the season, the Citizens signed Bonello on a definite transfer. With Valletta, Henry Bonello also won the championship.
 
Bonello also forms part of the national team squad, he made his senior international debut for Malta on 29 February 2012.
