And yet again tomorrow Valletta FC will start as the defending Champions the Maltese Premier League. After a till end battle in last year's league, and after being crowned double champions last season, we start our first match against Mosta FC in Ta Qali at 20:30.
Mosta had built a good squad this year. With the inclusion of players like Daniel Mariano Bueno and their last year signing Bojan Kaljevic the blues will be a threat for all the big teams in the Premier League.
As we saw during the last two months of preparation, our squad lost some talented foreign players. Denni Dos Santos left Malta to go back to Brazil and he is not expected back till Christmas. Alan Da Silva Souza signed a super contract in Greece, Irakli Maisuradze went to play in Cyprus with our former head coach Andre Paus and goalkeeper Nukri Revishvili signed another big contract in Russia.
As usual our committee did not stay with his hands in the pockets and signed some foreign interesting players which we saw them in some friendly matches and in the Champions League campaign. This season we signed a couple of Maltese players too, namely goalkeeper Nicky Vella, defender Ryan Camilleri and the midfielder/forward Christian Caruana. In the coming days we might get another foreign player which shall fill the place that Denni Dos Santos had left. Our target is only one to keep on with the top teams and hopefully get the 23rd Championship to Valletta FC.
And you the number 12, you that had been always there to support us! I am pretty sure that this season you will be there again behind us. Giving the team all your support especially when things are not going that well. Although we started our campaign with the Super Cup defeat, I am pretty sure that your LION'S roar will be there again as from tomorrow to help the team doing well in this coming campaign. I wish you all a big good luck for the coming season and hope that in May 2015 we will be all together again.
