Valletta take on Birkirkara this evening kick off 19:00hrs at the National Stadium. Valletta won four of the first five matches; they lost their first match of the season against Hibernians (2-4). During their last two outings they registered a narrow win against Qormi and Naxxar Lions.

Birkirkara are coming from a negative result against Hibernians (0-1) they were held in a draw by Sliema Wanderers and currently are two points behind Valletta. Birkirkara are therefore eager to bounce back with a win which could put them in second or third place, ahead of Valletta.

Birkirkara coach Paul Zammit will have to adjust his defence as Brazilian centre-half Matheus Bissi da Silva is suspended after receiving a red card in the Hibs defeat. Edward Herrera is also doubtful for tonight’s match, the Malta wing-back is struggling with a hamstring injury. Midfielder Ryan Scicluna is also unavailable, he is recovering from a minor surgery to address a toe problem.

Valletta will have to do without left-back Azzopardi,  Ian is recovering from a foot injury. Shaun Bajada returns to the squad after completing his recovery from injury but defender Steve Borg is still out.
