Valletta FC will face Balzan on Monday eveing at the National Stadium kick-off 20:00 for the second and last game of the season.
After title contenders Birkirkara FC, won their second last game against Hibernians yesterday and moved 5 points clear of us (with a game in hand), nothing less than a win for Valletta against Balzan, would keep us there till the last game of the season which ironically will be played next Saturday against the same Birkirkara.
For this game, we have to replace one of the best midfielders in Malta Roderick Briffa, as he is the only Valletta players ruled out of this game for collecting his 4th yellow card last week against Mosta. Our coaches have the availability of all the other players including the central defenders Jonathan Caruana and Luke Dimech, which were absent from last week's match on their fourth yellow card suspension.
On the other hand Balzan, are a decent good team and on the day they can offer a hard game to any other opposition. With Balzan relaxed sixth place on the table, and with nothing to lose, this should be a very tricky game.
On paper we are the most quoted to win this game and go for the Gran Finale against Birkirkara, but, football is played for ninety minutes on the pitch and not by quoted on papers. We all believe that our squad is strong enough to pass this test, but we must keep our feet stuck to the ground and go for this game concentrated and with a winning mentality.
I can see the determination of our players together with the strength of you our beloved supporters. The willingness that we all together have to win this Championship, shall make us grab each other's hands and walk this path together. This week all our roots of supporters got chained together as one unit and I really believe in the motto that was chosen. "TOGETHER WE CAN” and this is true, united together, YES, "TOGETHER WE CAN" and let's make sure that this will be done together.
