Preview: Day 2 Valletta vs Senglea A. Published on: 24-08-2017

Matteo Piciollo is back in the BOV Premier League after agreeing terms to play for Valletta this season. The pacey forward, who spent last season on loan at Balzan, was a free agent after his contract with Floriana FC was not renewed in May.
Valletta, who looked short of firepower in last week’s 1-0 win over Mosta in their league opener, moved quickly to offer a contract to Italian Piciollo who put the seal on a one-year deal. Piciollo, 24, attended his first training session with the Citizens yesterday evening and is in line to make his debut against Senglea
Athletic at the Centenary Stadium this evening.
Senglea, the league newcomers who held Sliema to a 2-2 draw last week, were also active in the last few days of the transfer market as they completed the signing of four new South American players.
Argentine trio Gonzalo Leyton, Gonzalo Virona and Miguel Escobar were all handed a one-year contract at Senglea alongside Brazilian Gregori Braga.
However, it remains to be seen if the South American quartet would be eligible to play Valletta today as Senglea were still without all the necessary paperwork to complete the players’ registration at the MFA offices yesterday.
