Preview: Day 17 vs Tarxien Rainbows Published on: 03-01-2014

Tomorrow Valletta FC, will be playing against 10th position Tarxien Rainbows at the Hibernians Stadium at 16:00hrs.

After a shocking defeat that we had just before Christmas against Naxxar Lions, our team has to bounce back and try to convince with a good result and performance.

Tarxien are a good side, their position in the table is not a mirror of where they should be. Seeing their results of their previous games, one can notice that the Tarxien side was almost tight as a result in mostly any game that they played.

On our side the coach has quite a few players unavailable for this match, due to suspensions and injuries. Steve Borg had been suspended a match after he got sent off in the Naxxar game, while Captain Ryan Fenech will be out serving a one-match suspension when he collected the fourth yellow card in the same said game. Defender Jonathan Caruana will be ruled out on a thigh injury which will leave him out till next week, another player that will not make it for tomorrow's game is our English striker Lateef Elford, which is recovering from a hamstring injury. Although we have all these missing players I am sure that our team is still strong, and in my opinion that is the difference between us and some other Premier teams.

After the last result I noticed a very positive thing from our beloved supporters. Although we lost you were there behind the players till the last minute. We all appreciate that, and we are willing to give you the big present at the end of April. I am sure that tomorrow you will be there again behind the team giving your passionate support throughout the whole 90 minutes.

As this is the first preview of the year, on behalf of all the players, Technical staff and committee, I would like to wish everyone of you a happy new year full of health, joy and happiness. The Cherry on the cake should be only one......... Silverware at the end of April.
