Preview: Day 15 vs Qormi Published on: 14-12-2013

Second placed Valletta are riding a wave of optimism in the BOV Premier League, after an excellent performance against Hibs last Wednesday. Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza was Valletta’s hero, scoring a goal in the 91st minute that earned his team a crucial victory, lifting Valletta to second in the standings, one point adrift of leaders Birkirkara.
Valletta are regarded as favourites to win the three points but they will not be expecting an easy ride on Sunday evening as Qormi are on their way up after wins over Tarxien and Naxxar Lions.
Coach Mark Miller is not expected to make changes to his line-up. Defender Ian Azzopardi and Hamza Barry are both unavailable, both players are still injured. Defender Jason Lee Vandelannoite is still serving a 28-day club suspension. The Belgian defender, whose contract with the Citizens runs out at the end of this month, is currently training with Division One side Msida St Joseph.
Newly signed Brazilian midfielder Jao Gabriel da Silva will face his former team Valletta tomorrow; his arrival has sparked an upoturn in Qormi’s fortunes.
Qormi will have to do without Roderick Bajada suspended while Nigerian striker Alfred Effiong is doubtful after picking up a knock during the last match against Naxxar Lions.
The match is going to be played at the National Stadium, kick-off 16:00hrs.
