Valletta will be hoping to end the first round of the BOV Premier League on a positive note when they take on Balzan on Sunday evening.
The Citizens are passing from a fine moment, last Saturday they made it four wins on the trot after beating Tarxien Rainbows. Brazilian Denni scored a brace and was also voted player of the match for the second consecutive week.
With eight points from ten matches played, Balzan are currently on the 9th place. Last Saturday, they failed to obtain the three points against leaders Hibernians.
This week Valletta parted ways with striker Romulo Antoneli and they signed Raheem Bakare on a short-term deal but, the club is still waiting for the international transfer document. Bakare was brought to Malta by Birkirkara but failed to secure a contract with the Stripes.
Mark Miller, the Citizen’s mentor will have to do without midfielder Hamsa Barry injured while defender Ian Azzopardi is still out but wll welcome back Dyson Falzon after recovering from a slight injury. Defender Steve Borg is also back with the squad, having made his first appearance in almost a year after coming on as a substitute during the last match against Tarxien.
Balzan signed a Brazilian keeper this week that was on trial with Division One side Żebbuġ Rangers. Coach Jesmond Zerafa will have some key players missing, Brazilian defender Rodrigo Pereira and Aaron Agius are still sidelined with injuries while Mark Spiteri is doubtful. Goalkeeper Michael Falzon and Justin Grioli return from suspension while midfielder Firas Aboulezz is set to return after a two-match ban.
The match is going to be played at the Victor Tedesco Stadium in Hamrun, kick-off 16:15hrs.
