Preview: 30th Match vs Tarxien Rainbows Published on: 20-04-2013

Valletta will meet Tarxien Rainbows tomorrow, kick-off 17:00hrs at the National Stadium. The Citizens hope to beat Tarxien not only to stay in the title hunt but also to avenge their 3-2 upset to the Rainbows in their last meeting last March.

Valletta are coming from two positive results against Mosta (6-1) and Sliema Wanderers (2-0).
Midfielders Roderick Briffa, Ryan Fenech and defender Jonathan Caruana are doubtful for tomorrow’s match. Coach Mark Miller will have to do without strikers Michael Mifsud (suspended) and Demba Toure who is sidelined after bruising his ribs in a collision with Sliema goalkeeper Glenn Zammit during last Saturday’s match (2-0).

Tarxien Rainbows are coming from a 4-2 result against Mosta last weekend, the Rainbows currently fifth with 29 points are trying to secure a place with the first three in order to participate in the Europa League. Coach Clive Mizzi should have full squad at his disposal for tomorrow’s match.
Brazilian striker Daniel Mariano Bueno was named BOV Player of the Month for March earlier this week, Daniel is currently topping the BOV Premier League top scorers’ charts with 18 goals together with Valletta’s Michael Mifsud.  Last month, he was voted   man-of-the-match in Tarxien’s victory over Valletta.

Valletta and Tarxien Rainbows already met three times this season, the Lilywhites won the first match played last August (1-0), during the second match both teams shared the spoils in a 1-1 result while during the third encounter Tarxien won the three points Previous (2-3).
