Valletta will be facing Balzan Youths, kick-off 20:15hrs at the Victor Tedesco Satdium this evening.
During their last encounter the Citizens dropped two poins in a 1-1 result against bottom placed Rabat Ajax. Valletta cannot afford to drop further points if they are to keep the top spot.
City’s coach Mark Miller has a choice of first-choice players struggling with injuries and flu. Dyson Falzon is struggling with a hamstring injury, Steve Borg has a knee injury while Ian Azzopardi is recovering from a groin injury.
Midfielders Edmond Agius and Roderick Briffa are also doubtful for today’s match, the midfielders are recovering from a foot problem and hamstring injury respectively. National team captain Michael Mifsud and Ryan Fenech have been suffering from influenza while goalkeeper Manuel Bartolo is being treated for a muscle strain.
Balzan Youths under the guidance of Valetta born Ivan Zammit have been doing quite well in their recent matches. During the last round they drew 0-0 with Mosta after defeated Sliema Wanders 1-0. Jamie Pace, Matthew Mendy and Dylan Grima return for the Youths after serving a one match suspension, Brazilian striker Elton and left-back Renie Forace are suspended.
During the last match played between the two teams last April Valletta won the three points from a perfect free-kick by William Barbosa on the 7th minute.
