Preview U Bet FA Trophy Valletta vs Sliema W. Published on: 20-01-2012

Over the coming weekend ten Premier League sides, four First Division, one from the Second and the other from Gozo, a total of 16 teams, will be trying for a place in the quarter-finals of the U*BET FA Trophy. This competition had a radical change from this season as to its format, which had all the national league teams, as well as those from Gozo, participating. The ties, staggered throughout the season, attracted the attention of many. The Sliema Wanderers vs Valletta clash will undoubtedly be under the main microscope, with both outfits boasting of a fine pedigree in this competition. It will surely be the most expected match of the fourth round.

We will be facing the Wanderers with the same enthusiasm as if playing a league match or even more. The FA Trophy this year is one of our targets, and we should go down on the pitch like gladiators in the arena. There will not be some changes from our last encounter against Mqabba, especially in the midfield. Gilbert will make  the starting line up replacing Jamie Pace and maybe Dyson Falzon replaces the not 100% Zongo, who is still feeling some abdominal pain. The Argentinean midfielder will not be eligible to be on the line-up tomorrow as his International clearance from Italy did not arrive.

On the other hand the Blues should be looking at this game as the salvation of their up and down season. I am pretty sure that the Wanderers will give all their 100% to try to knock us out of the competition.

As always, you our beloved supporters will make sure that our boys are duly encouraged, to keep them going on with their pace throughout the match. When I come out of the tunnel and look back to see the crowd, I get over stimulated and feel full of pride to be working with a club like ours. Our boys like it as well especially when you keep on cheering us even in difficult moments.
Tomorrow we need to welcome all the team on the pitch with the same passion as we do during all our league games as this is what makes us different from all the others.

Jerry.
