After the signing of Gilbert Agius as new coach, Valletta secured the services of goalkeeper Nicky Vella from Tarxien Rainbows.
A product of San Gwann Nursery, Nicky Vella joined Valletta in season 2008-09. During season 2009 Nicky guarded the post during all the matches in the National League 100 Anniversary, winning this honour in the final against Floriana (3-1).
After spending three years with Valletta, Nicky joined Tarxien Rainbows in season 2011. The past season was an excellent one for Nicky with the Rainbows, he helped the team fight the relegation battle and maintain their status in the Premier League.
Nicky forms part of the National team squad, he used to form part of the Under-19 and Under 21 national team.
Nicky Vella is expected to sign a five-year deal in the coming days.
