Mifsud rescinds his contract with the Wanderers Published on: 20-01-2016

Michael Mifsud’s return to Valletta became more possible yesterday after he reached an agreement with his club Sliema Wanderers to cancel his contract.
The veteran striker had already agreed personal terms with Premier League leaders Valletta on Monday but the move depended exclusively on whether he would succeed in convincing the Wanderers to let him go.
After another round of talks yesterday, it was agreed that the 34-year-old was free to leave Sliema, the club that launched his career.
Now, the transfer is likely to be completed today as Valletta will hope to deposit the transfer documents at the MFA offices in time to have Mifsud available for this evening’s FA Trophy clash against Birkirkara.
It also emerged that Mifsud will not be the only player to leave the Wanderers this month as Aidan Friggieri is being linked with a move to Como in the Serie B.
Sources told Times of Malta that the young winger is being courted by the Italian side who are in talks with Sliema.
It seems that Como are interested in taking Friggieri on loan until the end of the season with the option of making his transfer permanent in summer.
