Michael Mifsud injury not serious Published on: 30-08-2012

A sigh of relief for Valletta, after it was confirmed yesterday that striker Michael Mifsud has suffered no major damage to his groin and could be in action next weekend in the match against Qormi.

Michael Mifsud was substituted during the second half of last Sunday’s victory against Mosta 3-1. There were rumours that he could be out of action for several weeks.

Yesterday, the national team captain had an MRI scan which showed that there was no tear in his groin and he could be fit in next Saturday’s match against Qormi.

National team coach Pietro Ghedin yesterday added Michael in his formation for the World Cup qualifier match against Armenia on September 7th after the Italian coach had summoned Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza to train with the National squad in replacement in case Mifsud was ruled out due to groin injury.
