We are happy to announce that Valletta have arranged an exclusive interview with ex-Valletta F.C. striker Sebastian Monesterolo.

Sebastian “Omar” Monesterolo was born in San Fransisco, Argentina in 1983.

He, started his carreer with the Youth team of Boca Juniors, playing 198 games between 1997 and 2002, scoring 98 goals. Monesterolo later joined Division 1, Club Banfield, before joining San Francisco de Cordoba in Division 2. With Club Banfield, Sebastian played 12 games scoring 6, whilst with San Francisco de Cordoba, he played 15 games scoring 8 goals.

In 2005, Sebastian also played in the Malaysian League with MPPJ Selangor, making 10 appearances and scoring 7 goals. Seba joined Valletta F.C. in January 2006, he quickly established himself as one of the best strikers on the island. He continued scoring goals and playing at a high level in the second half of 2006 (16 goals in 13 league games). An offer from Kuwait SC was too good to refuse, and he joined the club at the turn of the year. However his stay in Kuwait was not successful.

In 2007, Victor Sciriha was elected president of Valletta F.C. The club started investing heavily in new players for the 2007/08 season; Monesterolo became one of the main objectives and he returned to Malta in the summer of 2007. He received a warm welcome from the Valletta supporters on his arrival.

However, Seba struggled for several months, scoring only few goals and performed well below the level that had established him as a prolific striker. When rumors of his possible departure in the winter market began to circulate, he scored four goals in an incredible 7-0 victory over Marsaxlokk FC. Monesterolo also leveled the score for Valletta in the Betfair Cup final against Juventus. His association with Frank Temile played an important role in obtaining the title for Valletta in 2007-08.

At the end of May 2008, Sebastian Monesterolo joined AEK Larnaca. Monesterolo scored a number of goals for AEK Larnaca in pre-season friendlies but this did not stop the Cypriot club from parting company with the Argentine after learning that his application for an Italian passport had been rejected. On August 2008, Monesterolo traveled to Israel after Hapoel Lod expressed a firm interest in signing him.

Seba returned with Valletta F.C. for the third time in December 2008 at end of the season he was released and signed a contract with the East Bengal Club in July 2009. In January 2010, he joined Club Sportivo and Library Athens, a team who plays in Torneo Argentino B.

In June 2010, Monesterolo signed a contract with Cruise North of Misiones, Argentina, in January of 2011 he was transferred to Club Sportivo Desamparados, the Torneo Argentino A. Seba is currently playing with St. George Athletic Club in the province of Santa Fe.
