Gilbert Agius celebrates his 39th birthday today Published on: 21-02-2013

Agius made his Citizens debut at the age of 16 on 2 September 1990, against Sliema Wanderers. On 7th November 1993 at the age of 19 he made his debut for the senior national side in a 2-1 victory for Malta over Gabon in an international tournament in Tunisia.
On the domestic front he has won major honours several times, being a permanet member of Valletta's Championship winning side. Aside from a brief spell on loan with AC Pisa in Italy in 2001-02, Gilbert has been a mainstay for Valletta and is the only player ever to have been voted Maltese Footballer of the Year on three occasions.
Gilbert has recorded a remarkable 119 caps for his country, making him the second most capped player in Malta's history.
In beginning of season 2012–13 Gilbert Agius was named to be Assistant Coach of Mark Miller.
