UEFA Europa League 1st leg - Valletta vs KS Ruch Chorzow

Valletta face KS Ruch Chorzow of Poland tomorrow in the second leg of the UEFA Europa League at the Centenary Stadium kick-off 5.00pm.

Tomorrow’s match will be the first outing for Jesmond Zerafa’s side after the Euro Cup. Midfielder Edmond Agius is still sidelined by injury, while Kenneth Scicluna is unavailable also through injury. Newly signed Jonathan Caruana, Ramon Dos Santos, Denni Dos Santos and Omonigho Temile should all make their debut in tomorrow’s match.

KS Ruch Chorzow eliminated FC Shakhtyor Karagandy of Kazakhstan on a 3-1 aggregate in the first round of the Europa League.

KS Ruch come from the town of Silesia in Chorzow. They won the championship fourteen times and the Polish Cup another three times. Last season, they placed third in the Polish top division, twelve points behind champions Lech Poznan.

Strikers Artur Sobiech and Damian Świerblewskiego are both missing for the Polish side; Sobiech is suspended after receiving two yellow cards, while Damian is recovering from an injury.

KS Ruch Chorzow made their debut in Europe in 1962, in the Intertoto Cup. In 1998, Ruch Chorzow played in the final of the Intertoto Cup against Italian side Bologna.

KS Ruch Chorzow together with coaching staff, representatives and journalists left Pyrzowice airport earlier today on their way to Malta, the team will conduct their first training session later on today.

The referee for tomorrow’s match is Menashe Masiah from Israel. The away match will be played on Thursday 22nd in Silesian Stadium Poland.
