Championship Pool Day 28: Valletta vs Birkirkara
The BOV Premier League comes to end tomorrow with the final match between Valletta and Birkirkara kick-off 19:30hrs. For the second consecutive year Valletta failed to win the championship and finished runners up of the BOV Premier League. Birkirkara were declared champions last Friday after winning another three points against Tarxien Rainbows.
Valletta are coming from a series of four positive results, during their last match they won another three points against Qormi (2-1), Steve Bezzina opened the score for the Citizens while Michael Mifsud doubled the score two minutes from half-time. Qormi reduced the gap following a free-kick by Massino Grima seven minutes from the end.
Luke Dimech is missing for tomorrow's match, Dimech was suspended till the end of the season by the Valletta FC committee following incidents during the match played on Friday 23rd against Sliema Wanderers.
Valletta and Birkirkara already met five times times this season. On the first meeting in the Euro Cup the Citizens scored twice against the Stripes. In the BOV Premier League, Valletta won the first encounter 3-1, the second meeting between the two teams ended in a 1-1 result while Birkirkara won the third encounter 1-0. In the quarter finals of the U*Bet FA Trophy, Valletta eliminated Birkirkara 3-1.
