Championship Pool Day 24: Valletta vs Sliema W.
Following an excellent performance against leaders Hibernians last Monday Valletta won three important points thus reducing the gap from the top to three points. The Citizens now have five league matches which are all finals starting with the match against Sliema W. tomorrow at 19:30hrs.
Valletta will have to do without several players for tomorrow’s encounter. Goalkeeper Andrew Hogg is unavailable after receiving a knee injury in the first half last Monday. Roderick Briffa and Luke Dimech are both suspended while Stefan Giglio and Cleavon Frendo are both recovering from injuries. Midfielder Jamie Pace returns from serving a one-match suspension.
Sliema W. are coming from a positive result against Birkirkara 1-0. The Blues are fourth in the BOV Premier League table with 20 points. Sliema W. Coach Stephen Azzopardi will have to do without defender Jeffrey Chetcuti who is suspended while Mark Scerri is still recovering from a knee injury.
During the last meeting played between the two teams last month, Valletta won the three points 5-0.
