Championship Pool Day 21: Valletta vs Sliema W.
Valletta and Sliema W face each other tomorrow in a delicate encounter.
The Citizens signed international striker Michael Mifsud earlier this week. Unfortunately Michael’s debut with the white shirt will have to wait another week, before his registration (which is off-market transfers due to a free player) is approved by the Executive of the MFA. Therefore Mifsud will make his debut on Friday 19 th March against Qormi.
For the match against Sliema Wanderers, Dutch coach Ton Caanen, will have to do without the services of the suspended defender Steve Borg and striker Njongo Priso while Roderick Briffa is injured. H owever the Citizens will be strengthened by the return of midfielder Gilbert Agius.
Valletta are coming from a series of four positive results, scoring 18 goals and acquired only three. It is expected that Declan O'Brien and Terence Scerri will form the Lilywhite’s attack for tomorrow’s match. At the moment Terence Scerri is the club’s top scorer and definitely will try to score more to top the BOV Premier League top scorers list.
Sliema Wanderers started the Championship pool with a defeat against leaders Birkirkara, they are fourth in the league standings with 18 points. Mark Marlow the Wanderers coach will have full squad at his disposal for tomorrow’s match, Josef Mifsud and John Mintoff return with the squad from suspension.
In the previous two games played between the two teams, Valletta won the first encounter 1-0 while Sliema won the last match 3-1.
