Championship Pool Day 20: Valletta vs Birkirkara
On the second day of the Championship Pool Valletta face rivals Birkirkara on Saturday at 16:00hrs.
Valletta are currently second with 23 points, a point less than Hibernians. The Citizens are coming from a comfortable win against Sliema Wanderers last weekend 5-0. Birkirkara are currently third with 19 points, the Stripes won their first match in the Championship Pool against Floriana last Sunday 2-0.
Cleaven Frendo is missing for the Citizens, Cleaven injured earlier this week while training with the National Squad. Stefan Giglio is also unavailable for the Citizens, the Valletta born midfielder is still recovering from an injury.
Valletta and Birkirkara already met three times this season. In the first match played in September the two teams shared the spoils in a 2-2 result, in the second match played last January the two teams shared the points in a 1-1 result. Valletta also met Birkirkara in the semi-finals of the U*Bet FA Trophy, the Lily Whites moved to the finals eliminating the Stripes 2-0.
