Preview: Day 14 Valletta vs Tarxien R.
Next are current runners up and this year's biggest revelation Tarxien Rainbows. This is a game which is being considered by most as the clash of the week mostly because it could possibly be a last hope for all to maintain Valletta within respectable reach from the remaining teams in the upper half of the table.
Nevertheless, these are the rules of the games, rules which were amply clear before the start of the competition this season, and so this is the music we shall have to dance to if we want to lift the League trophy . Let the maestro set the music and our boys will complete the show, whether the rhythm is classic, waltz, ballet and hip hop or even reggae or heavy metal. Determination, total concentration and teamwork are the basis of our strategy which will see us to absolute victory this season.
'Tarxien R. are expected to have all their players available, which include their string of foreign heroes with the exception of the gifted Pacheco who has still not returned to our Islands following his Christmas and New Year Holidays. I would expect Tarxien to launch an offensive approach towards tomorrow's match for the simple reason that this is what they can do best. Noel Coleiro is aware of the strength of his team, particularly that of his foreigners and that will make him go out in search for goals, an attitude which had almost seen Tarxien drawing us on 3-3 in the first round just seconds before Valletta scored their fourth and later their fifth goal to secure the result at 5-2. I still remember well this game, and would comment that the result does not justify the proceedings of that match. On that day Tarxien could have possibly deserved a more respectful result'.
'On the other side, Valletta will have all their players available, apart from Kenneth Scicluna who is now progressing steadily from injury and Andrew Hogg who will have to miss this match following a fourth yellow card which he collected against the Stripes. Our other gem, Niky Vella will step in his place , with a vow to perform at identical levels. Niky has always performed brilliantly whenever looked upon in the past and will be a definite guarantee of inspiration to our team tomorrow'.
'Valletta will be highly motivated by the fact that a win tomorrow will continue to zoom further on the Championship opening a rare and significant gap on the second in command. Last Season's nightmare is still on the boys' minds and that will further vintage their desire to vindicate themselves on the League itself this season. They want every local football fanatic to understand that there is only one team of the sort in Malta and thanks to President , Committee and all involved.... that s none other than Valletta FC. You will again be seeing evil eyed gladiators at Ta Qali tomorrow. Full speed ahead with straight in the eye looks, from minute number one to minute number 93. That is why we are the Proud ones and that is why we pretend to win the League.............. we believe WE'RE SIMPLY THE BEST'.
'Tarxien will however not be an easy team to beat tomorrow. I can tell you that for a hundred thousand reasons. But unity and determination will once again see us through.... just wait and see.
See you all there tomorrow hoping that we will manage to collect all three points at stake. One last word of appreciation goes to our adorable crowd of genuine supporters. Thank you all for finding different solutions of maintaining the same phenomenal level of cheerful and colourful unique support yet modifying the lyrics of your cheeky songs in an attempt to avoid the at times hefty fines imposed on us by the governing body. The hymns could perhaps look slightly more timid but the message still gets through in a unique City style. Well done and keep it that way. I would like to meet and come closer to the composers of these hymns who I must admit are few and selective on these islands. Many people could think that Einstein was unique in recognition. What about these fanatic artists then with lyrics like Liena tiela jien and songs like Where's your mama gone ????? Qas joqghod fejn rashom...... ha nghidlek'.
See you all at Ta' Qali tomorrow .
