Day 13: Valletta vs Tarxien R.
Valletta FC face bottomed placed Tarxien Rainbows tomorrow at 14:45hrs at Hibs Ground. Valletta FC are surely currently passing through a positive run in the league campaign, with two consecutive victories, over Marsaxlokk (1-0) and against Hibernians FC (2-0). Against Tarxien R, without undermining their potentiality, nothing less than a victory would satisfy the citizens following a 2-2 result in the first round.
Valletta will have Edmond Agius and striker Doding Priso missing for tomorrow’s encounter. Agius was sent off by the referee in the dying matches against Hibernians while Doding Priso received a two- match ban by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner after collecting a yellow card after leaving the pitch without permission.
Newly signed midfielder Roderick Briffa and Brazilian Paulo Massaro will make their debut tomorrow for the Citizens. Yesterday the Citizens secured the services of International midfielder Roderick Briffa from Sliema W, following long talks between the two clubs. Paulo Massaro’s clearance arrived earlier this week and the club filed his registration at the MFA headquarters.
Tarxien, under the guidance of coach Noel Coleiro, are currently in the bottom of the standings with just 5 points. Last week Tarxien R. signed goalkeeper Michael Falzon from Hamrun S. and Clifford Gatt Baldacchino from Sliema W. and released defender Ivan Carpic.
In their last league match, the Rainbows failed to obtain the three points against Qormi FC 0-1.
A victory against Tarxien R. would be a good morale booster for Valletta for next Saturday's important encounter, against Birkirkara.
