Day 12: Valletta vs Sliema W.

Valletta and BOV Premier LeagueSliema W. will be facing each other in a classic encounter on Sunday at the National Stadium kick off 16:00hrs.

Sliema Wanderers' last league match was a 1-2 defeat against leaders Qormi on December 26th. On the other hand, Valletta's last league match was 4-0 victory over arch rivals Floriana on the same day.

The Citizens participated in a 45-minute match against Serie A Parma and also against Hibernians during last Wednesday's Christmas Cup Tournament at the Hibs Stadium. Parma won the Tournament after eliminating Valletta 3-1 and Hibernians 4-0.

Coach Ton Caanen will have to do without striker Ian Zammit who is still sidelined with a knee injury. New signing Declan O'Brien should make his debit tomorrow with the Citizens. O’Brien scored Valletta's goal in the 3-1 defeat to Parma.

Sliema Wanderers are coming from a series of negative results; they lost their last two matches against Msida 0-1 and Qormi 1-2. The Wanderers have strengthened their squad by signing Argentine striker Julio Alcorse and Brazilian Pedrinho. Julio Alcorse cannot make his debut tomorrow with the Blues as his international transfer certificate is not expected to be received before Tuesday. Pedrinho should make his debut tomorrow as his international certificate is expected to arrive today.
 
Stephen Azzopardi, the Wanderers coach must cope without Clayton Failla who is suspended, Striker Matthew Bartolo is also doubtful for tomorrow’s match.
