Day 10: Valletta vs Birkirkara
The opening of the second phase of the BOV Premier League will kick off with an interesting encounter. Valletta and Birkirkara will face each other tomorrow in a top of the table clash at the National Stadium kick off 16:00hrs.
Valletta will be aiming at winning another three points in order to keep the top spot. The Citizens won a total of 7 points from a total of four matches while failed to obtain full points against Champions Hibernians 0-1. The City’s coach Ton Caanen will have to do without striker Ian Zammit who is struggling through an injury. Defender Luke Dimech and striker Njongo Priso return after serving a one match suspension.
The Stripes are coming from a series of positive results after gaining full points against Qormi, Msida and Sliema W. Birkirkara will have to do without Paul Fenech and Joseph Zerafa for tomorrow’s match. Paul Fenech received his fourth yellow card during the match against Qormi while Zerafa received marching orders by the referee also during the same match.
The last league encounter between these two teams was played on 21st August of this year. Valletta won the three points 3-1, 2 goals by Terence Scerri and Geert Den Ouden.
