Preview Day 09 Valletta vs Hamrun S.

'The eve of what I consider to be one of the most important games of the season.  And I have my reasons for considering it to be so vital. Should we manage to emerge victorious ( as will hopefully be the case ), then we would have succeeded to complete the first round seven clear points from second place. That would be a marvellous way of ending the first  part of our job.... wouldn't  it ????' Jesmond Zammit explained to Valletta FC.net

'Hamrun will be facing this match with utmost determination. They need points from this encounter to try and step in second place. They know that we shall have to play without two or three regular players. They will be throwing their guts out to try and leave Ta' Qali with at least one point. Hamrun will still be without  their captain Rupert Mangion and striker Dean Shields whilst Valletta boy Massimo Grima can also be a doubtful starter after a slight injury which he has picked up in the second half of their last game against Vittoriosa'.

'On the other side, Valletta will still be without the services of International Defender Kenneth Scicluna (still on his way from recovery) whilst Jamie Pace and  Brazilian central defender Ramon dos Santos will be out  through suspension. Our other Maltese International defender, Jonathan Caruana , will also, in all probability , miss tomorrow's match still nursing a calf injury. Having to do without such players will definitely be a setback for us but, at least, we are lucky enough to have a very strong squad which will enable us to field an equal valid team tomorrow. Like all other previous games, this will have to be another hard fought battle from which we shall have to be determined to cash all points at stake'

'Our boys are geared to play each and every game for all its worth. Their brutal experience seeing them lose last year's championship after having dominated most of the League has definitely served them a lesson. We shall have to do without some of our vital players for tomorrow's encounter. But with this mentality and our common and collective approach, we shall overcome this hurdle as well......... just like we did with previous matches, with particular reference to the games against Hibs and Floriana where the dwell  was conditioned by unfortunate incidents, this is why we are Valletta, this is why we are so different from all the rest, this is why we are the the team to beat, the envy of all our opponents, the team who is always expected to win.... no matter what..... no excuses accepted. Let  all the experts speak........ no worries........we should not care.........what doesn't kill us will make us even stronger'

There is only one  aim ... only one target.....come May I want to see the name BROOKE on that left lifted arm with the tenacious enchantment of our loyal supporters in the background.  Believe me .... a victory tomorrow will mean that we are firmly on course........ a confirmation to all that WE REALLY MEAN BUSINESS' Team Manager Zammite ended his comments.
