Jesmond Zammit the Lilywhites team manager gave these comments to the club’s official website “Vittoriosa will definitely not be an easy nut to crack next Sunday. It is a known fact that newly promoted teams are extremely keen to try and win points in their new experience competing with the elite teams of Maltese Football. This desire to win or to acquire precious points continues to increase if such teams are drawn to play against teams in the shape of Valletta on their day of baptism. In their pre season matches, with particular reference to their participation in the Hamrun Tournament, Vittoriosa has left a very good impression , fielding very valid foreigners along with veteran experienced players in the likes of Jeffrey Chetcuti  and Dino Cachia  not to mention the latest local signing - Stephen Wellman, whom they have signed on loan from Qormi F.C.

On the other hand, Valletta F.C. are expected to have all their players available for this match, with Edmond Agius and Terrance Scerri already utilised in the last friendly match against and with defender Kenneth Scicluna steadily recovering from a groin operation. This game will offer the official debut of Ian Azzopardi with the Lilywhites.  Any which way... Valletta's ambitions and goals are clear and sculptured on the walls surrounding the City this season...... nothing but the league Championship will put the souls of the Citizens at rest. This is the mandate and this is what we shall strive to achieve with all our strength. The message is clear enough. Losing points against Vittoriosa would definitely not be in Line with the set course.  But we shall have to be at our very best to tame and beat the newcomers.  So Forza Valletta City. May the best team on the day hook the three points?”
