Preview BOV Super Cup - Valletta vs Birkirkara
Valletta and Champions Birkirkara will be facing each other tomorrow in the Super Cup final at the National Stadium Ta’ Qali at 19:00hrs. After their participation in the European competitions both teams are focused on the preparations for the start of the BOV Premier League. These two teams already met each other in the Euro Challenge Cup (3-0).
Jesmond Zerafa, the Citizens coach will have to do without defender Kenneth Scicluna, midfielder Edmond Agius and Steve Bezzina. Scicluna is expected to start training regularly next week after recovering from an injury, while Edmond Agius is still struggling from an injury he received during the Euro Cup against Sliema Wanderers.
Steve Bezzina is receiving a special training program in order to determine if the latter requires further medical treatment.
Currently, Valletta have two foreigner strikers on trial, Joseph Okonkwo and Bojan Mamic. Okonkwo formed part of Dingli Swallow's squad during the last season, while Serbian Bojan Mamic (28) played with eleven teams during his career. Both players are unavailable for Saturday's match but will be available for the final of the Mare Blu Cup on Friday 27th.
Birkirkara will have to do without midfielder Alan Tabone and midfielder Rowen Muscat. Both players are recovering from an injury. The Stripes have won the Super Cup five times while Valletta won the Cup seven times.
