Annual General meeting 2014 report Published on: 07-06-2014

Valletta FC held its Annual General Meeting for season 2013-14 at Sala San Duminku earlier this morning.
The Club's General Secretary Joe Attard opened the meeting by welcoming the club members for this annual event of the Club. This was followed with the reading of the minutes of the previous Annual General Meeting, minutes were then approved by the Club's members.
The administrative report for Season 2013-14 was also presented by the General Secretary, Joe Attard. The report mentioned that the club ended the season winning two major honours the BOV Premier League and the U*Bet FA Trophy. The Club has succeeded in obtaining the UEFA Licence for the next season. Joe Attard mentioned that Ryan Fenech was voted Player of the Year by the Supporters, the voting took place in the club’s official forum.
Treasurer, Mr. Michael Palmier then presented the financial report. He stressed out that the number of members from the previous season has decreased (523 members in total). For the second consecutive season, the club has received less gate money from the Malta Football Association, 8,000 Euros less from the previous season. The club has donated a substantial sum of money to the Valletta Nursery, in order to upgrade the Nursery.
The treasurer also mentioned that the Valletta squad is the only one that has all players paid up-to-date till the end of the season. Michael Palmier ended his speech by thanking club donators, Supporters Club and UB999.
The Election Commissioners for the 2014-2015 committee members’ election were selected. Voting started on Saturday after the Annual General Meeting and will continue on Monday from 6.00pm till 8.00pm at the club’s premises in St. Lucia Street, Valletta.

Agius Joe (Fish), Baldacchino Jean Pierre (Plakka), Calleja Joseph (Zmerc), Farrugia Pierre (Tabib), Gauci Kevin (Kalatu), Mackay James, Tabone Vince (Palollu), Thorne Anthony and Xuereb David (Tip Top).
Club President, Victor Sciriha started his speech by thanking those who attend the Annual General Meeting. The President said that this was a memorable season for him that although everyone had put Birkirkara as favourites in winning the Championship, Valletta succeeded in winning both the BOV Premier League and the U*Bet FA Trophy.
The President said that last month ex captain Gilbert Agius was appointed as coach and signed and three year - deal with the club, Sciriha also praised and described Gilbert’s professional attitude towards his new job.
The club has also made his first signings of the season, Nicky Vella from Tarxien Rainbows and winger Adrian Zahra. The Australian born winger was on the books of Perth Glory in the A-League in Australian. The President said that the club is learning from mistakes done in previous seasons and will not sign a total of 13 foreigners like last season. A Spanish central midfielder will be arriving in the coming weeks for trial. The club has also ended negotiations of a new two year contract with Denni Dos Santos. Defenders Steve Borg and Ian Azzopardi has signed has signed a five-year and a two-year deal respectively with Valletta.
The President also mentioned the progress done on the new land the government has granted Valletta football club for the new Stadium. The Hal Farrug land has now been exchanged with another land in the limits of Hal Luqa. The club is hoping that the necessary permits will be issued by MEPA in the near future.
Victor Sciriha said that the club had several meetings with big investors at the end of the season. The club’s administration did not finalise agreements and that Valletta Football Club will not be sold.
Sciriha stressed out the importance of more supporters becoming members in the club so that as from this season the list of members will increase.
Victor Sciriha ended his speech by thanking the Valletta Futsal team for winning the First Division Championship, all the committee members for the work done during the season, Alexander Fenech for the financial support towards the club, and all those who help the club during the season. Sciriha ended by mentioning the famous phrase that was used by Valletta supporters during the last season ‘Together We Can’.
