Annual General meeting 2013 report Published on: 16-06-2013


Valletta FC held its Annual General Meeting for the season 2012-13 at St Albert College this morning.

The Club's General Secretary Joe Attard opened the meeting by welcoming the club members for this annual event of the Club.

This was followed with the reading of the minutes of the previous Annual General Meeting and the Extraordinary Meeting held on May 2nd. Both minutes were approved by the Club's members.

The administrative report for Season 2012-13 was also presented by the General Secretary, Joe Attard. The report mentioned that the club ended the season in the third place of the BOV Premier and now the club will take part in the UEFA Europa League. The Club has succeeded in obtaining the UEFA Licence for the next season. The Club Secretary stated that the Betsson sponsor has expired and the club is in the process of finalizing another sponsor.

During his speech, Club Secretary Joe Attard revealed that Valletta FC will wear a shirt with Puttinu Cares logo during the Euro Challenge Cup. As from next season Valletta FC will have a new. The number 7 shirt will never be worn again; it will be kept at the club’s showcase in respect of captain Gilbert Agius. 

Joe Attard mentioned that during the MFA awards 2013 Llywelyn Cremona was voted best Youth player and striker Michael Mifsud ended the season as the club’s top scorer with 18 goals. Joe thanked Kevin Gauci for the work done in the Youth Sector during the past season.

The general secretary also mentioned that the club is working with Carmel Baldacchino on a book about the Story of Football in Valletta. He urged all those who have mementos, pictures and useful information to pass this to committee members so that it can be included in the book.

Treasurer, Mr. Michael Palmier then presented the financial report. He pointed out that the number of members from the previous season has decreased and the club has received less gate money from the Malta Football Association this season. Michael Palmier ended his speech by thanking club donators, Supporters Club and UB999. 


Two amendments to the statute were added with the statue. The first was that the Club’s membership can be paid up to December. The second was that in order to be a candidate for the committee election one has to be a member during the previous year. Both amendments were approved unanimously.

The Election Commissioners for the 2013-2014 committee members election was made of Joe Attard, Noel Hili, Roderick Axisa and Edward Agius. Voting started on Sunday after the Annual General Meeting and will continue on Monday from 6.00pm till 8.00pm.

Club President, Victor Sciriha started his speech by thanking those who attend the Annual General Meeting. The President said that as from next season all players will have to accept and sign a code of ethics.

The president stated that the squad started training last Thursday; the full squad will be present for training next Thursday and the players forming the National squad were given a 10 day holiday. A new Dutch striker and a 19 year old player from Gambia will arrive next week.

The President also mentioned the progress done on the new Valletta Stadium and that the  MFA approved a donation of 400,000 Euros for this project. As from next season the club will have a new sponsorship, the deal will be signed in the coming days.

Victor Sciriha ended his speech by thanking Dr. Pierre Farrugia for the work done in the club’s Nursery, Alexander Fenech and  Francis Vassallo in obtaining the biggest sponsorship so far, committee members, general secretary, treasurer and vice president Paul Spiteri.
